The course is designed to provide students with the epistemological and historical bases of Traffic Psychology and its interdisciplinary relationships with other fields of knowledge, such as Traffic Medicine, Law, Public Health, Traffic Engineering, Education, and Psychometrics. It will improve technical and practical knowledge required to conduct the driving psychological aptitude test required by the Brazilian Traffic Code to candidates willing to obtain their National Driver's License (CNH), to renew their professional license and/or change their license category. It will also broaden the possibilities for psychologists to work in education, security and human mobility in the traffic, as well as in traffic intervention and rehabilitation.
The professional specialized in Traffic Psychology focuses on working at clinics that offer the test for obtaining the driver’s license; however, this professional may work in education, as well as in organizational contexts. At the end of the course, the professional can claim the title of Specialist in Traffic Psychology at the local State Traffic Authority (DETRAN).
